Pendleton has just returned from a successful trip to South Africa; A full account of this trip will appear in the Life. Pendleton is sympathetic to Boef’s desire to get married in the near future, and he hopes Providence will allow him to do so.

Morse’s letter to the Bishop of May 16th has arrived. Pendleton informs Morse that the authorization sent to him by the Bishop conveys with it all the powers of the second degree of the General Church priesthood, including the right to wear the blue stole.
